BHUTAN: OF MOUNTAINS, RIVERS AND DZONGS

A unique multi-sport itinerary in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. This trip involves trekking to hidden, ancient monasteries and fortresses (“Dzongs”), whitewater rafting two different Class 3-4 rivers, and an immersion into one of the most intact, authentic, unique cultures in Asia.  

Brief Itinerary:  

Pho Chhu River: An easy Class II/III warm up section of river that has a classic finish as you float past the spectacular Punakha Dechenphodrang Dzong.  

Mo Chhu River: A beautiful Class III/IV run.  

The days that you’re not trekking/biking or rafting are spent sightseeing and learning about the Bhutanese culture, lifestyle and the Buddhist Dharma and the way to enlightenment  

Day 1: Arrive in Paro (Bhutan) from Kathmandu and check in to the hotel. Sightsee around the Paro Valley. Night at hotel  

Day 2: Day excursion to Taktsang Monastery perched on a cliff 3000 feet above and overlooking the Paro Valley. Night at Paro  

Day 3: Start trek. Paro - Jele Dzong: Start trek above the Museum and graduall

Costa Rica Multi Sport CME Adventure

The Wilderness and Marine Medicine CME Conference takes you through lush tropical rainforests to secluded wilderness beaches and spectacular Eco Lodges.  

We begin our Wilderness Medicine adventure in San Jose. Then we fly to world-famous Corcovado National Park and the Cano Island Biological Reserve.  

Corcovado is a paradise of tropical wilderness and beaches, catalogued by the National Geographic Society as "one of the most biologically intense places on Earth!" It has truly spectacular wildlife, including many species of monkeys, crocodiles, exotic parrots, toucans, and an incredible diversity of species. Resident naturalists lead several hiking and boat excursions which are included in the trip price.  

Cano Island has beautiful snorkeling and scuba. Exciting day trips to view pods of wild dolphins can also be arranged.  

Our accommodations in Corcovado will be the spectacular La Paloma Lodge. regarded as one of the best eco-lodges in Costa Rica.

Fiji Multi-Sport CME

This exciting Wilderness and Marine Medicine CME course takes place in the secluded Fiji Island Paradise of Beqa (pronounced "Benga"). Surrounded by one of the world's largest and most spectacular barrier reefs, Beqa is rich and untouched.  

Beqa lagoon is actually an extinct volcano crater, and the 40-mile ring reef has formed on the lip of the old crater. It is home to one of the greatest displays of soft corals and sea fans in the world. Fiji is often called the "Soft Coral Capital of the World".  

Diving these calm protected waters is like exploring another world. The water is clear and warm, visibility is often over 100 feet, currents are generally mild, and the water temperature stays near a fairly constant 80 degrees.  

The excellent dive staff at Beqa Lagoon Resort will help you discover the incredible marine life that abounds in these waters - fantastic coral and invertebrates, Blue Ribbon Eels, Clown Triggers, Lion Fish, Leaf Scorpions, Reef Sharks and millions of colorful Anthias and Fusiliers.

Guatemala CME

The Wilderness Medicine Wheelchair Delivery Project and CME course, takes place in the charming and beautiful city of Antigua, Guatemala. The goal of this short-term, non-profit medical mission trip is to donate and deliver wheelchairs to needy disabled children in Guatemala. It is estimated that at least 100 million children, teens and adults worldwide need a wheelchair but cannot afford one. Some international organizations believe that the number could be as high as 6% of the population of certain developing countries.  

A wheelchair can truly make a profound and life-changing difference in the life of a child.  

This short-term medical mission trip was designed so that physicians of all specialties, along with their non-physician families and guests can take an active role in the wheelchair delivery. The CME participants, along with their spouses / guests can all be involved as a useful part of the delivery team. Fly Fishing School CME, Far Northern California

This exciting Wilderness Medicine conference takes place in the context of a professionally guided fly-fishing school / adventure is designed for all skill levels. Beginners will get instruction and guiding from certified fly-casting instructors (FFF) and experts can get personalized single or two-handed instruction from some of the best casters and guides in the West. All week we will be targeting steelhead (ocean-run rainbow trout) that are known for their beauty and incredible fight.  

Northern California is home to some of the finest fly-water in the lower 48. The school is located at Paradise Point, a gorgeous 20 acre deluxe tent camp on the banks of the legendary Klamath River. Peru-Inca/Amazon CME

The Inca Trail / Machu Picchu Wilderness and Travel Medicine CME Conference is a true classic that should be on every adventurer's "to-do" list. It is difficult to describe the magnificence of Machu Picchu, a stone fortress city nestled below stunning peaks. It is perhaps the greatest mystery of the Inca Empire. The four-day trek on the Inca Trail to reach this pre-Columbian site is a pilgrimage through time. Beautiful Andean scenery, as well as cultural history, unfolds as we hike up and down steep stone staircases past ancient Inca outposts. Our guides and porters will carry all of your gear and prepare delicious meals on the trail.
